When God says NO.....

Writer's picture: Landis GibsonLandis Gibson

When God says no it breaks my heart When God says no I fall apart My mind doesn’t see how to understand Yet it all is left in God’s hands

Yes, no is hard! It stops you in your steps, it brings you to your knees. It makes you question why you try in the first place.

Why is it so hard?

I’ve been praying for weeks, months, maybe even years and still find the answer to be no.

No is never a fun thing to hear, but when God says no I always remember it means one of two things.

NOT YET or NOT THAT

As a planner I struggle with a season of waiting from God saying no. It is so disheartening. I will say it had been in those moments of the UNKNOWN that I have come to KNOW God more. These verses have been a huge source of encouragement!

“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭27:13‬ ‭ESV

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Whatever “No” you are facing today remember, God is able! He can come through for you and he will. The waiting is just the hard part.

I’ll leave with one last thought from Bible study last Wednesday at Maysville Baptist Church,

“When you find yourself waiting, do what waiters do SERVE.”
