Saturday

Lord, prepare my heart for what comes next!

I find myself getting caught up in creating my own vision for the future. New Year’s resolutions, a five-year plan, or lifelong bucket list leaves me feeling prepared for an exciting future. Yet, things often don’t work out the way I plan then.

Shocker, I know! You mean to tell me my plans are not the same is God‘s plans? Who would’ve thought?

In these moments I begin to believe the lie that, “I know better”

“This as good as it gets”

“I might as well just do____”

Wrong, at this point I HAVE TO STOP. I have to remember what the word of God say, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:8‬ ‭ESV

I don’t think like God.

I don’t know things like God does.

My plans are not as good as God’s.

If it’s not fulfilled, God isn’t finished.

During this Easter season we put a lot of emphasis on good Friday and Easter Sunday. Both are biblical events that require our attention! But what about Saturday? Saturday was hard! Saturday was right after the most horrible and imaginable death of our precious Jesus happened and right before his glorious Resurrection. This was the time of the unknown. A time The disciples had to process the events of the night before and unknowingly prepare for the true joy that was to come! The story didn’t start on Sunday. In fact it didn’t start at Easter. It started at the beginning of time and absolutely nothing has taking God by surprise. Even when it takes us by surprise!

Know this I need to believe he has good plans for me. He holds the full picture to my future, so why should I try to take control? Just as we find the story of Easter required of period of waiting to get to the “good part”, so my life often require the same. Plus, life is so much better off when I leave it in his hands!
