Advent 2021❤️
As I child I remember lighting purple, pink, and a white candle and taking turns putting a felt nativity scene together with my siblings. I remember Christ was always the center of Christmas even in the excitement of getting gifts. I remember being challenged even in the overwhelming anticipation tied up in what would be under the tree, that Jesus was what it’s all about. I remember laying in my bed on Christmas Eve barely able to contain my excitement, then waking up at the crack of dawn in order to get a full day of fun in. I remember the feeling of….
ANTICIPATION.
Today, it’s still true. I look forward to Christmas! I love decorating my house, spending time with family, making Christmas cards, participating in holiday festivities, and of course lots of baking! Yet as I’ve grown, even just this Christmas, I know there’s more to it. Christ is CHRISTmas.
For years the birth of a perfect and redeeming savior was anticipated….and He came.
Generations of promises were tied up in His coming… and He came.
Today we get to be on the other side and celebrate His coming each Christmas. Yet, our anticipation does not end in the things that have already happened. We should rejoice in the baby that has come but look forward to the second coming…He’s coming back! Are you ready?
Be filled with a heart of encouragement this Christmas. Maybe it’s your best year yet, or maybe or are walking through a dark season and not “feeling it” this year. If you are grieving this holiday season, I’m so sorry. I pray you can find comfort in the truth that this is not a Christian’s final destination.
Your story is not over. Write it well. Live it for Jesus. Watch, wait, and see how’s He’s keeping His promise.
Merry or not we can find joy in the story of Christ this Christmas.
Thank you to The Daily Grace Co. and Pamela Becerra for pointing me towards Christ during this Advent season.
